Operating from our superb clinic in the heart of Knutsford, Cheshire, our professional team of highly qualified Chartered Physiotherapists are all registered with the Health Professions Council.

Our Staff

All of the partners have extensive experience working in both the NHS and private practice and have completed a one year post graduate course in manipulative physiotherapy through the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP), as well as completing other training in their specific interest areas.

In addition, associates working at the practice also have particular expertise in the management of musculoskeletal, sports physiotherapy and neurological conditions. The clinic takes pride in continuing professional development and we are committed to a training programme that keeps the Carmichael Clinic right up to date with the latest developments in treatment options.

 Rebecca Jackson, M.C.S.P.

Rebecca qualified in 2003 and has worked since then in the NHS treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions. She now works as a specialist hip and knee therapist in close liason with orthopaedic consultants within the NHS clinics, so she has a wealth of experience in managing these problems. Rebecca also practices acupuncture. She joined the practice in 2008 and has since completed a post graduate diploma in orthopaedic medicine.

 Rachel Wylie, M.C.S.P
Rachel qualified in 1990, and has worked since in the NHS specialising entirely on treating musculoskeletal disorders. She worked for 18 months in Boston, USA with an Orthopaedic Consultant team. Rachel joined the practice in 2000. She continues to keep up to date attending courses specifically relating to musculoskeletal problems and consequently is able to deal with some of the more complex, complicated patients. She is a member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP), using acupuncture for treatment of musculoskeletal problems. She is a member of Physio First, the professional organisation for physiotherapists in private practice.

 Joanne Middleton qualified as a physiotherapist in 1984, working in the NHS and also overseas for 3 years in Saudi Arabia and Australia. She specialized in orthopaedics and trauma and then completed a 3 year diploma in acupuncture, passing with distinction in 1994. She is a member of the British Acupuncture Council and an Advanced Member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP). She continues to undertake musculoskeletal and acupuncture training courses, having particular interests in the use of acupuncture for fertility and gynaecological problems as well as for chronic pain.

 Gill Horner and Adele Cavana are our fabulous admin team, who manage the day to day running of the clinic and generally keep the staff organised! They are able to deal with any administrative issues that arise during the course of your treatment, including organising all billing to health insurance companies. You will find them to be professional, welcoming, friendly and completely confidential.

 Gail Crawford, M.C.S.P
Gail qualified and worked in the NHS in Manchester before joining the practice in 1994. As well as her interest in musculoskeletal conditions she has completed Bobath training for the treatment of neurological patients and is a fully trained Sports Massage therapist. She has also gained qualification as a Pilates Instructor through the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute.

 Katrina Humphreys

Katrina qualified in 2001 and has worked in NHS hospitals in the north east and north west, including the Royal Childrens Hospital in Liverpool, and now for for East Cheshire PCT. She joined the practice in July 2007 treating a wide range of musculo-skeletal conditions and has a particular interest in myofascial release work and all lower limb conditions.

 Julia Taylor qualified in 1999 and is experienced in treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. She has carried out extensive post graduate training and is now a member of the Society of Orthopaedic Medicine (SOM), the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP) and is training with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI). She joined the practice in 2006.

 Sue Dugdale Sue qualified in 1988 and has worked since in both in the NHS and private practice treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. She continues to update her knowledge attending courses specifically relating to her clinical practice.

 Olivia Brewster Olivia trained in sports massage in 2012 gaining VTCT level IV in Sports Massage and VTCT level III in Swedish Massage.qualifying her to become a member of the SMA She is also qualified in Hot Stones Sports Massage which is proving very popular. In addition she is a fully qualiified pilates instructor having trained with Future Fit Pilates and APPI. Olivia's massage interests developed through her own experience competing with horses and being involved in other sporting interests such as running, cycling and swimming. (www.bfitforever.co.uk)
